I was exploring eHarmony's latest free promotion this weekend and decided to fill in a new profile – I had explored eHarmony a few years ago. I noticed that the profiles on the matches I received were very well written and this made me think that the pool of candidates is different either because my age group is older or because perhaps there are more quality people who take online meeting seriously. Later I found out that you can pay them to write a profile for you but the "damage" was already done. The "damage" I speak of is that I was influenced to fill in my profile to reflect my best intellectual self.
I can't remember which of the questions provoked me to think about my purpose in life, probably something about passions, but it provoked my brain to recollect the statement I perfected in college for what I wanted to do when I graduated. I had to articulate the niche set of students I wanted to work with to my advisor who was assisting me with strategically selecting electives to complete and enhance my degree and came up with this set of children – ages 3 & 4 who are at risk for, witnesses to, and/or victims of neglect and/or abuse.
My Personal Mission Statement is to serve young children (ages 3 & 4) who are at risk for, witnesses to, and/or victims of neglect and/or abuse.
What's yours?
Good question. I have never considered that before.
And good luck with eHarmony. I know a handful of happily paired couples who met on there.
